Greetings!
The last meeting of the Grand Rapids chapter of the International Thomas Merton Society will be Wednesday, November 8th, at 6pm at the Kentwood Library.
Traditionally, we always break for December because it’s one of the busiest months of the year. Christmas and family get-togethers and all that. We don’t want our group to interfere with any of the many things you have scheduled during the holidays. (“One less thing,” as the TV commercials used to tout.)
So, if you’d like to join us for some of the best spiritual discussions in West Michigan, please read the following in Merton’s wonderful book New Seeds of Contemplation:
Chapter 19 – From Faith to Wisdom
Chapter 20 – Tradition and Revolution
Chapter 21 – The Mystery of Christ
Chapter 22 – Life in Christ
Chapter 23 – The Woman Clothed With the Sun
As always, we will meet at the Kentwood Public Library (located on Breton between 44th and 52nd Streets) at 6pm. The library kicks us out at 8pm, so we begin to pack up at 7:45. (NOTE: 52nd Street is now open in all directions. So you can reach the library via 44th Street or 52nd Street.)
We will have treats, bottled water, decaf coffee, and who knows what else – plus, enough Thomas Merton discussions to last for an entire meeting. Who could ask for more?
We hope to see you there!
